    Microfilm of a pocket diary kept by Thomas L. Kane from January-May 1858. A notation inside the front cover states that it "contains confidential entries for my dear wife." The diary opens when Kane is at sea, sailing from Philadelphia to Aspinwall, Panama. Once there he describes the native people and his impressions of Panama from the sea. While continuing on to California, Kane writes of his constant sea sickness and dislike of ocean travel, of constellations he as observed (with illustrations), and of talking onboard with "California miners, drovers, and adventurers." He then writes of his arrival in and observations of San Francisco, of traveling to Utah, and of some experiences in the Salt Lake Valley. Portions of the diary are very faint and partially illegible.

    Microfilm of the diaries of Thomas Judd, covering the years 1876-1878 and 1906-1908. The first two diaries, dated 1876-1877 and 1877-1878, cover Judd's mission to Britain. The 1906 diary covers Judd's activities in La Verkin, his business trips around Washington County, and a trip to Las Vegas and California, including Los Angeles, Pasadena, several beaches, and Santa Catalina Island (where he took a glass bottom boat ride). The 1907 diary describes a second trip to California, including San Francisco, as well as Utah business activities, and the 1908 diary traces Judd's sea voyage from New York to Los Angeles. Portions of the diary are very faint and may be partially illegible.

    Microfilm of a diary and account book of Joseph Warrington McAllister, kept at Glendale and Salt Lake City from 1882-1885. The volume opens with co-op accounts for individuals and institutions, including the Glendale Trustees and Night School, in Glendale from 1882-1883. It also includes miscellaneous accounts kept from 1884-1885.The second half of the volume consists of McAllister's 1882-1884 diary, which commences with his move from Kanab to Glendale to teach school. McAllister writes of his life in Glendale, his attendance of meetings at Orderville, his move to Salt Lake City in 1883, and working in the Salt Lake Temple through 1884. Portions of the diary appear to be in pencil and may be partially illegible.

    Microfilm of an autobiography, diaries, and sketches by Frederick William Hurst and spanning the years from approximately 1858-1885. The first volume consists of an autobiography Hurst wrote in Utah in 1858, and which also contains a few diary entries from 1864 and notes labeled Camp Deseret, 1858. The second volume was kept from 1855-1856 while Hurst was serving as a missionary in Hawaii; the third volume, dated 1857-1858, was begun at San Francisco and describes his missionary work in California and travels to Utah; the fourth, dated 1875-1877, opens in Utah and goes on to describes sailing to Auckland and Hurst's mission work in New Zealand; and the final volume is identified as Memorandum of Missionary Labors Commencing January 12, 1879, and appears to have been kept in Millville and Hyde Park, Utah. Portions of all of the volumes are very faint and partially illegible. The reel also contains fifty sketches done by Hurst between 1855-1885, and which include scenic and structural drawings from California (including San Francisco), Utah, New Zealand, Australia, and Hawaii; sketches of ships, portraits mainly showing women in various forms of historical dress; and a variety of drawings of plants and animals.

    Microfilm of nine diaries kept by John Fairbanks from 1877-1902. The first diary opens in Payson in 1877, and recounts Fairbanks's mission to the southern states, including Alabama and Tennessee, in 1883; the second opens with a list of subscriptions for the Zion's Cooperative Mercantile and Manufacturing Institution in Payson (1869) and also includes an 1881-1882 diary kept at Payson and on the southern states mission; the third diary opens in 1881 when Payson was traveling to St. Louis and tracks his mission through 1882; the fourth diary is a continuation of the third diary; the fifth diary is another notebook and diary kept during his mission from 1882-1883; the sixth diary is also from 1882; the seventh diary is undated but also appears to be from the southern states mission; the eighth diary is dated 1890 and was apparently kept in Utah; and the ninth diary was kept while Fairbanks was traveling in Central and South America, including to Mexico, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Colombia, in 1901-1902. It closes with a brief biography by an unknown author tracing Fairbanks's artistic endeavors from 1914-1917. Also included on the reel is a typescript by an unknown author entitled "South America Trip," which recalls Fairbanks's travels there.
