    Work of an unknown author based on the herbal of Dioscorides and later attached to the name of Apuleius Platonicus. A variant issue is known with a dedication to Cardinal della Rovere in place of that to Cardinal Gonzaga. 132 woodcut illustrations. Chancery quarto, with paper measuring 20.6 x 13.8 cm. Signatures: [*⁶ a-m⁸ n⁶ (*1, n6 blank)]. Imperfect: initial blank leaf (leaf [*]1) lacking. Leaves [*]2-[*]6, [a]1, [n]1 and [n]6 lacking and replaced with facsimiles. Huntington Library copy has the illustrations hand-colored and "silked" for conservation. Huntington Library copy is the variant, with dedication to Cardinal della Rovere. Binding: citron morocco. Binder's stamp: Bound by Lloyd London.
