The set is comprised of eight glass jars, approximately 2 oz. each. A green and white paper label is on each jar, along with the color contained in that jar. Accompanying these paints are 2 paintbrushes, numbered 12 and 14. The set is housed within a cloth-covered paperboard box with a hinged lid. "Mr. Jordan" is written in ms., in ink, below the company name on the underside of the lid.

Laid into the box is a sheet of printed directions for mixing the pigments and how to use each of the colors. The three small glass jars may not be part of the Honfleure set; they appear to have been manufactured by another company.

    One penmanship book entitled Barnes' National System of Penmanship, published by A.S. Barnes & Co., New York and Chicago, 1886. This book is 24 pages in length, and contains 24 exercises. Across the top of each page are sample words and numbers for copying. The remainder of each page is eleven lined sections for student copying. For example, the items across the top of page 1 are: "X, extra, Xenia, W, waves, Warner, 1". On the front cover a decorative, leafy frame surrounds title information. An image of a bee is in the lower right-hand corner of the frame. The back cover is an advertisement for the Barnes' National Sytem of Penmanship, its penmanship charts, ink, pens and popular drawing books. The inside of the front cover features four instructional images for correct body and hand positions for writing. Below this are textual instructions for correct form and position while writing. On the inside of the back cover are numbered and labeled examples of "Barnes' National System of Penmanship." All of the lessons have been completed, in ink, by a previous owner. "Laura E. Dix" (previous owner) is written in ms., in ink at the top of the front cover.
