A portfolio of 16 numbered plates of various images of the ocean, ships, fish, shells, etc. comprise the set, which is accompanied by an 8-page introduction by Pedro J. Lemos. Each numbered plate contains a few lines of descriptive or explanatory text below the images. The represented artworks are by various artists. "The Seaside in Art" is printed in the upper left-hand corner of each plate, along with a category in the upper right-hand corner: Plates 1-2 Marine Painting; Plate 3 Outdoor Sketches; Plate 4 Wave Studies; Plate 5 The Sea Coast; Plate 6 Decorative Composition; Plate 7 Sea Scenes; Plate 8 Seaweeds; Plate 9 Shell Fish Designs; Plate 10 Sea Shell Designs; Plate 11 Decorative Fish; Plate 12 Applied Fish Designs; Plate 13 Ship Designs; Plate 14 Ship Designs; Plate 15 Applied Sea Designs; Plate 16 Applied Ship Designs. The plates are housed in an illustrated folder. A blind embossed letter "S" (Mabel Spofford) is stamped at the top of each of the plates.

Human Proportion

One set of art instruction plates entitled Human Proportion, by Eudora Sellner, published by School Arts Magazine, Worcester, Massachusetts, 1924. The subtitle reads: "Set of eight plates by Eudora Sellner." This set is incomplete; Plates No. 1-2 are lacking. Each plate is labeled "Costume Design 21; Human Proportions" at the top and contains line drawings pertaining to human body proportions. Each plate addresses an aspect of proportion and design: Plate No. 3 is titled "Head Construction"; Plate No. 4 "Human Construction"; Plate No. 5 "Human Construction"; Plate No. 6 "Dress Design"; Plate No. 7 "Heads and Hats"; Plate No. 8 "The Figure in Action." The plates are housed in an illustrated, protective envelope. "Price 35 cents" is printed at the bottom of the front side of the envelope. The envelope and each of the plates bear an embossed letter "S" at the top (Mabel Spofford).

This is a portfolio of 15 numbered plates of art reproductions of ships. Various methods of art are represented and include: stencils, batik, pen and ink drawing, tiles and patterns. The plates are not individually labeled, but below each set of images are several lines of text that provide suggestions or directions for use in design. The set of plates is housed within an illustrated paper folder.

Apex Inks

Two metal cans of block printing ink, each labeled Apex Inks, manufactured by Barta-Griffen Company, Worcester and Boston, Massachusetts. The labels on the top of each can read: "Apex Cover Mixing White". Each can is 3 3/4 oz., and appears to be unopened. "Spofford" is written in ms., in ink, on the top label of each.
